How is the bearing steel ball quenched?

Today, Condar Steel Ball tells you about one of the processes in the production and processing of a bearing steel ball-quenching.

So what is quenching?

What equipment is used for quenching?

What are the precautions when quenching?

Below I will give you a general introduction for the reference of interested friends:

In order to improve the hardness, strength, wear resistance and contact fatigue resistance of the bearing steel ball, and obtain good elasticity, toughness and dimensional stability through tempering, it is necessary to perform quenching treatment.

(1) Commonly used equipment for quenching and heating At present, the commonly used heating equipment for steel ball quenching includes box-type resistance furnaces, salt bath resistance furnaces and drum resistance furnaces.

(2) Quenching heating process Quenching heating temperature and heating time are two important process parameters for steel ball quenching, which must be selected reasonably.

To determine the quenching heating temperature of GCr15 steel, on the one hand, it must achieve the specified hardness, and at the same time, it must avoid the transformation of supercooled austenite into non-martensitic products in the structure, and on the other hand, obtain martensite with the required dispersion. The larger the diameter of the ball, the slower its cooling in the quenching tank, and in order to ensure the quenching quality, the more carbon, chromium and manganese should be dissolved in austenite. Therefore, the larger the diameter of the steel ball, the higher the quenching heating temperature should be.

The above is just a small part. In the future, when I have time,Condar Steel Ball will talk to you in detail about the concepts and differences of annealing, quenching and tempering of bearing steel balls.
